Melissa and John Sullivan, owners of the program, live in Seattle, Washington. Our dogs live inside our home, not a kennel. This keeps the mom happier and by the time our puppies are ready to go to their new homes, they are familiar with the sounds, sights and smells of a household. Family-Friendly The Australian Labradoodle tends to be affectionate, warm and loyal. Much like the family-oriented Labrador Retriever, these dogs are happiest around their family members. They are known to be highly trainable, picking up commands quickly and learning backyard tricks that show off their agility. With proper training, owners have a dog that is the perfect family pet. And...Allergy-Friendly Why is this dog breed low to non-shedding? The basic multi-generational Labradoodle is mainly 1/4 Labrador Retriever and 3/4 Poodle, a non-shedding breed. When you hear "Australian Labradoodle", this indicates a more complex combination. Originating in Australia, breeders of the first Labradoodle took the basic Labrador/Poodle combination and crossed with breeds such as the spaniels, which infused traits to enhance the coat's softness. Creating this mix was targeted to produce ideal service dogs for people with allergies. Thus a pure Australian Labradoodle is not strictly a Labrador/Poodle combination. For more information on the Labradoodle, please see the Australian Labradoodle Association of America, Inc. (ALAA).
