Welcome to Harlow Labradoodles. We are a small, home-based breeding program of multi-generational Australian/American Labradoodles.

Melissa and John Sullivan, owners of the program, live in Seattle, Washington. Our dogs live inside our home, not a kennel. This keeps the mom happier and by the time our puppies are ready to go to their new homes, they are familiar with the sounds, sights and smells of a household.

Family-Friendly
Our primary goal for breeding Labradoodles is to produce low to non-shedding dogs of good health and outstanding dispositions. While these dogs are typically very energetic, agile and playful, they are meant to be companions for their owners in their homes. A measure of success for us is how well a dog fits into the family.

The Australian Labradoodle tends to be affectionate, warm and loyal. Much like the family-oriented Labrador Retriever, these dogs are happiest around their family members. They are known to be highly trainable, picking up commands quickly and learning backyard tricks that show off their agility. With proper training, owners have a dog that is the perfect family pet.

And...Allergy-Friendly
Melissa, who has always had a love of dogs and other animals, is allergic to most animals; this breed is the first that has not left her in the midst of a perpetual sneezing fit. In addition, as any owner of a shedding dog can tell you, having your dog sit on your lap without leaving dog hair behind is wonderful!

Why is this dog breed low to non-shedding? The basic multi-generational Labradoodle is mainly 1/4 Labrador Retriever and 3/4 Poodle, a non-shedding breed.

When you hear "Australian Labradoodle", this indicates a more complex combination. Originating in Australia, breeders of the first Labradoodle took the basic Labrador/Poodle combination and crossed with breeds such as the spaniels, which infused traits to enhance the coat's softness. Creating this mix was targeted to produce ideal service dogs for people with allergies. Thus a pure Australian Labradoodle is not strictly a Labrador/Poodle combination.

For more information on the Labradoodle, please see the Australian Labradoodle Association of America, Inc. (ALAA).
